Polish-British Innovation: A Celebration of Defense Technology

On March 6, 2026, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London showcased a significant milestone in international defense collaboration. The embassy hosted an engaging event that highlighted the partnership between WB Group and the British firm Applied AGI, marking a critical junction in the synergy of innovation and technology in defense systems. This event attracted representatives from the defense industry, including key figures from WB Electronics, part of the WB Group, and Applied AGI, amongst a roster of invited guests.

Unveiling the Warmate 5

Central to the event was the presentation of the Warmate 5 heavy loitering munition system. This highly advanced system made its international debut at the DSEI 2025, a prominent defense and security exhibition held in London last September. Reports from the event indicated notable interest from the British Armed Forces in this cutting-edge technology.

The Warmate 5 system is recognized for its enhanced capabilities, allowing it to engage targets at extended ranges, including heavily armored vehicles. Its main components include an unmanned platform equipped with an interchangeable warhead, a specialized launcher, and a ground control station—all designed to support battlefield operations effectively and precisely. With an operational range of approximately 100 kilometers, the Warmate 5 is designed as a versatile asset for various military scenarios.

Advanced Munition Technology

What sets the Warmate 5 apart is its customizable warhead, which weighs between 5–10 kg. Depending on the mission requirements, it can be equipped with a high-explosive fragmentation, thermobaric, or anti-armor warhead. Its ability to autonomously identify and engage targets, alongside its retransmission capabilities, grants it flexibility in dynamic combat environments.

Moreover, the Warmate 5 integrates seamlessly into larger reconnaissance-strike systems, such as the Gladius system employed by the Polish Armed Forces. Loitering munitions like the Warmate 5 distinguish themselves through rapid response times and the ability to target locations beyond the reach of traditional artillery, making them vital for modern warfare.

Collaborating for Innovation

The event also underscored the collaboration between WB Group and Applied AGI, a British enterprise specializing in machine learning and artificial intelligence applications within the defense sector. This partnership aims to meld AI technologies with Polish unmanned systems, paving the way for sophisticated autonomous military capabilities.

According to a press release from WB Group, the importance of such partnerships cannot be overstated. The collaboration seeks to develop products that emphasize autonomy, resilience, and operational effectiveness—crucial factors for modern combat scenarios.

Insights from Industry Experts

A notable highlight of the evening was a panel discussion featuring experts from various sectors of defense and technology. Moderated by Sean Bell, the discussion provided a platform for thought leaders, such as Konrad Wojciechowski, Dr. Tom Girn, Adrian Monks, and Steve Knight, to delve into the evolving landscape of modern conflict. They addressed how uncrewed systems and AI are revolutionizing warfare, emphasizing the rapid adaptability of the defense industry in response to technological advancements.

Community Engagement in Defense Innovation

The embassy event served as more than just a showcase; it fostered a lively conversation about the intersection of AI, uncrewed systems, and future defense technologies. Attendees left with a clearer understanding of the innovative directions being pursued in defense and the collaborative spirit driving these groundbreaking initiatives.

In essence, the event at the Polish Embassy was an affirmation of the enduring relationship between Poland and the UK in defense technology, underscoring the importance of international collaboration for advancing military capabilities.
