In a significant move, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has officially adopted a set of ethical principles governing the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This decision comes after recommendations provided by Secretary of Defense Dr. Mark T. Esper, following an extensive consultation process led by the Defense Innovation Board over the past 15 months.
