Cutting-Edge Military Technology Tested at Fort Huachuca

A New Era of Warfare

In Fort Huachuca, Arizona, a pivotal event has begun to reshape the landscape of military technology. As the U.S. military engages in rigorous experimentation with advanced weapons and systems, it is setting the stage for a new kind of warfare—one defined by enhanced capabilities and improved safety for troops on the front lines.

The Experimentation Event

Recently, Fort Huachuca hosted an exclusive event called “Experimentation: Transformation in Contact” (EXTIC). This marked the first time such an event utilized the facilities at Fort Huachuca, allowing military personnel and weapon vendors to collaborate in testing innovative technologies. News 4 Tucson’s Chief Investigative Reporter, Chorus Nylander, had the opportunity to cover this significant occasion, shedding light on the future of military operations.

Enhancing Communication

One of the core objectives of EXTIC was to enhance communication between decision-makers and the troops on the ground. Chris Shumac, a Department of Defense engagement manager, stated the importance of the technologies being showcased. “This makes every warfighter not only more lethal but safer,” he explained. By integrating new technologies, the military aims to empower soldiers while extending their capabilities and increasing awareness of the battlefield landscape.

Technologies on Display

At the heart of the event were numerous groundbreaking technologies designed to improve operational efficacy. One noteworthy innovation was a surveillance tool called Apollo, introduced by Scott Fournier from Digital Force Technologies. The Apollo cleverly combines camera and radar surveillance, offering an advanced insight into potential threats.

The presentation also included a fully 3D printed drone from Echomav. President Mike Hogges emphasized its significance: “Tech like this drone cuts long-term costs and keeps boots on the ground safer.” He pointed out the convenience of field-fixable components, signaling a versatility that can be vital in dynamic combat conditions.

Innovative Detection Systems

Another remarkable feature of EXTIC was a helmet developed by Leonard Sklencar from KaizenLabs, equipped with drone detection capabilities. For less than a thousand dollars, this device offers warfighters precious additional seconds of awareness, significantly enhancing their response time in critical situations.

Real-Time Data Sharing

A standout star of the event was a seemingly unassuming box running a program called Archnet. This technology seamlessly connected Fort Huachuca with the Playas Research and Training Center in New Mexico, about 170 miles away. By enabling real-time data sharing, Archnet exemplifies how innovation can bridge distances and unite military operations across vast areas.

Chad Bowie from MMB Solutions remarked on the global implications of this technology, stating, “Options for deployment truly are global; you could take this to Alaska, Florida.” This approach broadens the military’s operational horizon and opens up new avenues for strategic deployments.

Future Vision

Shumac elaborated on the broader vision for these technologies, describing this event as a first proof of concept. The objective is to connect multiple military ranges, creating a cohesive operating picture that will drastically enhance situational awareness for commanders and troops alike.

The Road Ahead

The data gathered during EXTIC is not merely for show; it is expected to play a crucial role in refining these technologies for future combat scenarios. As the military forges ahead, the discoveries made at Fort Huachuca could redefine the way conflicts are managed and fought on various fronts.

Continuing the Conversation

As the military continues to explore and innovate, there is an open invitation for any stories or insights related to military technology. Should anyone wish to contribute or seek further investigations, they are encouraged to reach out through the provided contact information.

Through events like EXTIC, we’re witnessing a fascinating transformation in military capabilities—a transformation that could significantly alter how wars are fought and how soldiers operate in the field.
