### A Milestone in Defense Innovation: The Baobab-G Contract

In a significant development for the Polish Armed Forces, a new defense contract valued at approximately 1 billion PLN has been finalized. This ambitious agreement not only involves intricate design work but also encompasses the delivery of an undisclosed number of state-of-the-art Baobab-G vehicles. The package further includes essential spare parts, comprehensive personnel training, and a sophisticated simulator aimed at enhancing operational readiness.

### Background of the Contract

This contract decision was meticulously shaped by a thorough analysis of data gathered from preliminary market consultations conducted in the first half of 2025. Following the announcement of the program at the beginning of the year, several key players showed interest. Notably, Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. and Bydgoskie Zakłady Elektromechaniczne Belma S.A. emerged as frontrunners, particularly in the niche of scatterable mine-laying components. Their partnership reflects a robust collaboration, with both companies currently working on the Baobab-K program, which will supply 24 wheeled scattered mine-laying vehicles based on the capable Jelcz P882.53 8×8 chassis.

### The Baobab-G Vehicle Specifications

Deliveries of the Baobab-G vehicles are expected to commence in 2029, with these vehicles being built on the established chassis of the Krab self-propelled howitzer. This strategic choice of structure positions the Baobab-G as one of the cornerstones in the Polish military’s modernization efforts. The integration of advanced technologies and innovative designs will ensure that these vehicles meet the contemporary demands of warfare, particularly in mine-laying operations.

### Enhancing Operational Capabilities

The Baobab-G vehicle is engineered to feature six launchers capable of deploying 100 anti-tank mines each, along with various cutting-edge control and monitoring systems. This configuration allows for precise deployment, significantly enhancing the operational capabilities of Polish forces. Furthermore, the vehicle is set to include a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun, designed for greater defensive capabilities against potential threats.

### Advanced Safety and Control Systems

Beyond its offensive capabilities, the Baobab-G is designed with a suite of protective features. These include advanced warning systems, protective shielding, and diagnostics for real-time monitoring and system health checks. This level of innovation ensures that personnel operating the Baobab-G are safeguarded against emerging battlefield threats while maintaining mission readiness.

### Current and Future Assets

Currently, the Polish Armed Forces field six tracked Kroton scattered mine-laying vehicles, achieved through previous collaborations with Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. between 2003 and 2008. The integration of the Baobab-G alongside these existing assets suggests not only an upgrade in technology but also a complementary operational strategy, enhancing the versatility of mine-laying capabilities in different environments.

### Collaboration and Future Prospects

The collaboration between Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. and Bydgoskie Zakłady Elektromechaniczne Belma S.A. is a pivotal part of this development. Their partnership not only shows commitment to advancing military technology but also signifies the importance of domestic production capabilities in enhancing national security.

Each aspect of the Baobab-G initiative—from its well-planned contract structure to the advanced features being integrated—illustrates a forward-thinking approach to modern military challenges. With deliveries slated to begin in 2029, the anticipation surrounding the Baobab-G vehicles marks a notable chapter in Poland’s defense evolution.
